Wineries in Cottonwood

DA Vines Vineyard & Bistro is at 705 North Main Street, at the southern end of the Old Town strip, and it serves a French-inspired bistro menu alongside the wine. Burning Tree Cellars pours at 1040 North Main, up at the northern end.

That is about a quarter of a mile apart, on the flat, on the same street. Both are tasting rooms rather than vineyards: the vines are out in Page Springs, Cornville and Camp Verde, and what happens on Main Street is the pouring.

These two are part of something bigger

Old Town Cottonwood has more tasting rooms than these two; the others sit under different categories on this site depending on how each business describes itself. Walking the strip you will also pass Arizona Stronghold, Cellar 433, Rubrix, Tantrum and others, with Merkin Vineyards Hilltop just off Main up the hill.

Why Old Town works

You park once and walk. Parking is free, there are no meters anywhere in Cottonwood, and the whole strip is under half a mile end to end. That is the thing Page Springs cannot offer: the vineyards there are strung along winding lanes with a car between each one, which is a lovely drive and a poor plan for tasting.

If you are tasting at more than a couple of rooms, the Verde Shuttle to Sedona runs hourly from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. for $2, and in Cottonwood itself the sensible move is to leave the car where you parked it.

Timing

Most rooms on the strip open around noon and the majority close by 7, with Friday and Saturday running later. October is festival month and the street is busy with the Fine Arts Fair and the wine festival. A weekday afternoon is the quiet way to do it.
