A local directory for the whole Verde Valley: Cottonwood, Verde Village, Clarkdale, Jerome, Cornville, Camp Verde, Rimrock, Village of Oak Creek, Sedona. What is happening, what is closed, and who to call.

Who runs it

One person who lives in the Verde Valley. Verde Valley Directory is independent. It is not run by any town, county, chamber of commerce, or agency, it takes no public money, and nothing on it is official. Where we show government data, the agency is named next to it and is the source of truth.

Why it exists

Most sites about this area are about Sedona. The valley is nine towns, and the people who live here need the same things visitors do, plus a lot more: what is on this weekend, whether the road or the trail is open, where the farmers market is this month, and which plumber is licensed. This site tries to answer those in one place, in plain words, with a date on every fact.

How data is gathered

1. Discovery. Public sources tell us a business, event, or place exists: government records, chamber calendars, open map data, and mailers. These only give us a name and a starting point.
2. Verification. Everything we publish about a place comes from its own website, a government record, or a visit. Hours, fees, and services are copied from the source and stamped with the date we checked.
3. Writing. Listing descriptions are written by software from the stored facts above, and nothing else: every name and number in one has to appear in the record it was written from, or it is rejected and rewritten. That is how a directory this size gets a description on every page without anyone inventing opening hours. Guides are written by hand. We do not copy other sites' descriptions, reviews, or photos, and when a fact cannot be checked we leave it out rather than guess.
4. Automation. Events, road conditions, weather alerts, and forest closures refresh on their own from public feeds, hourly to daily. Each shows when it was last checked.

Home-service listings show the license number, where it was checked, and the date. Every listing and guide shows a "last verified" date. A listing with too few checked facts is not published.

How to correct something

• Suggest a correction to hours, phone, address, or anything else. Easy fixes usually go live within a day.
• Suggest a listing for a business or place we do not have yet. We check it against the business's own website before it appears.
• Claim your listing if you own or manage the business. Accounts are not switched on yet, so for now a claim is handled by email and we make the changes for you; owner photos need that recorded permission before they can go up.
• Ask for a listing to be removed. Removals are honored within 48 hours, no questions asked.
• Submit an event. We check it and post it within a day.

Money, ads, and reviews

Nothing on the site is for sale yet. The plan is featured listings, affiliate links and newsletter sponsors, all labeled where they appear, and when any of that opens it will buy position and never facts or reviews. Reviews and votes are moderated by written rules that treat positive and negative posts the same. The details are on these pages:
