Old Town Cottonwood: tasting rooms, food, and parking

Old Town Cottonwood is the strip of North Main Street between the SR 89A junction and the old jail at the north end. It is flat, short, and made for walking from one tasting room to the next. This guide lists what is here with hours from each business’s own site. Hours change with the season; each listing page shows when we last checked.

Tasting rooms on Main Street

Listed from south to north by street number. All pour Arizona wine.

• DA Vines Vineyard and Bistro, 705 N. Main. Tasting room with a French-inspired bistro menu. Open 11 AM to 8:30 PM Monday through Saturday, 9 AM to 3 PM Sunday.
• Cellar 433, 909 A N. Main. Pours the Cellar 433 family of wines, which includes The Original Jerome Winery. Open Thursday 1 to 7 PM and Friday through Sunday noon to 7 PM. Closed Monday through Wednesday.
• Tantrum Wines, 918 N. Main. Tapas and charcuterie boards. Open from noon Friday and Saturday until 8 PM, from 1 PM on weekdays, and noon to 7 PM Sunday. Happy hour Monday through Thursday, 4 to 6 PM.
• Arizona Stronghold Vineyards, 1023 N. Main. Tastings, tapas, and bottles. Open from noon daily; closes 6 PM Sunday through Tuesday, 7 PM Wednesday and Thursday, 8 PM Friday and Saturday.
• Burning Tree Cellars and Rubrix Wines, 1040 N. Main. Two small-batch labels that share an address and a patio. Rubrix is open from noon daily, closing at 7 PM most nights and 8 PM Friday and Saturday. The hours we hold for Burning Tree look like a default rather than a tasting room’s day, so check its listing or call before you count on them.

Just off Main Street:

• Merkin Vineyards Hilltop Winery and Trattoria, 770 N. Verde Heights Drive, on the hill above Main. Winery plus Italian restaurant with wood-fired pizza, handmade pasta, and gelato. Open 11 AM daily; closes 9 PM Monday through Thursday, 10 PM Friday and Saturday, 8 PM Sunday.

Food

Several of the tasting rooms above serve real food: DA Vines (bistro), Merkin Hilltop (Italian), Tantrum and Arizona Stronghold (tapas).

The rest of the street eats well too. On the same few blocks you will find Nic’s Italian Steak & Crab House at 925 N. Main, Aqui at 804, Belfry at 791, Bing’s Burger Station at 794, Crema Craft Kitchen at 917, Four 8 Fried Chicken at 1001, The Old Town Cafe at 1025, Tavern Grille at 914, and Old Town Red Rooster Cafe at 901, which is a breakfast and lunch place rather than a dinner one. Parking

Cottonwood does not charge for parking. There is free street parking along Main Street and public lots behind the buildings on both sides. The city does not publish lot names or posted time limits, so read the signs at whichever one you pull into. On festival weekends the street fills by late morning, and the north end and the side streets are your best bet. The Old Town Jail Trail trailhead at 1101 N. Main also has parking, and it is a flat walk from there down to the river.

If you plan to taste at several rooms, park once and walk. From DA Vines at 705 to Burning Tree at 1040 is about a quarter of a mile, and the whole walkable strip is under half a mile end to end.

When to come

• Weekday afternoons are quiet. Most rooms open at noon.
• Friday and Saturday evenings are the busiest, and the only nights most rooms stay open past 7.
• Sunday many rooms close at 6, and DA Vines switches to brunch hours.
• October is festival month. The Fine Arts Fair in Old Town and the Arizona Wine Country Artists Village are both scheduled for October 9 to 11, 2026. Walkin’ on Main and the Verde Valley Wine Festival are the other regular big weekends; their dates move, so take them from the events page rather than from here.

Getting here

Old Town is at the north end of Cottonwood where SR 89A turns toward Clarkdale and Jerome. From Sedona it is about 20 miles down SR 89A. From I-17, take SR 260 through Camp Verde.

There is a bus, which surprises people. The Verde Shuttle, run by Cottonwood Area Transit, connects Cottonwood and Sedona every hour from 6 AM to 10 PM, seven days a week. A one way ride is $2.00, or $1.00 for seniors over 60, veterans, students and riders with disabilities. If you are tasting your way up the street, that is the answer to the drive home. The older name for this route, the Verde Lynx, has been retired.

Rules of thumb

• Tastings are usually a flight of several wines for a set fee. Fees and pours vary by room; ask.
• Well-behaved dogs are allowed on some patios but not inside most rooms. The dog-friendly guide tracks which ones say yes.
• Plan a ride if you are tasting at more than two rooms.
