Tours from Cottonwood

Two businesses, and they are nothing like each other.

Blazin’ M Ranch, next to Dead Horse Ranch State Park, is a chuckwagon dinner and Western stage show. It runs Wednesday through Sunday: gates at 5 p.m., dinner at 6:30, show from 7:30 to 8:30. In 2026 the general ticket was $79.95, about $84.75 with tax, and it includes the dinner and the show. A VIP ticket was $109.95, about $115.54 with tax, and adds premium seating, a drink ticket, and an earlier place in the dinner line. Closed Monday and Tuesday. It is an evening out rather than a tour in the usual sense, and it is the valley’s main organized family entertainment.

Verde Adventures, 1034 North Main Street, runs river trips and wine tours. That covers the two things the Verde Valley actually has that nowhere else does: a genuine river running through a desert, and Arizona’s largest concentration of tasting rooms.

Why a wine tour is worth the money here

It is not about luxury. The Page Springs and Cornville tasting rooms are strung along winding country lanes, and Old Town Cottonwood has a walkable strip but is twenty minutes from the vineyards. Tasting properly at three or four places and then driving home is not something to plan on doing. A tour, or the Verde Shuttle at $2 to Sedona, is the practical answer rather than an indulgence.

The river

The Verde is one of Arizona’s few perennial rivers and it runs right past Cottonwood. Trips depend entirely on flow, which changes with the season and with the monsoon, so this is a book-and-check business rather than a turn-up one. Ask what the water is doing before you pay.

Dead Horse Ranch State Park is the usual public access point, with $10 per vehicle for one person and $20 for two to four, and the Cottonwood parks page covers it.
