Breakfast in Cottonwood

Breakfast here is decided by the clock more than the menu, so that is how this list is worth reading.

Pepe’s Cafe opens at 5 a.m., Tuesday through Sunday, and closes at 3 p.m. It cooks Mexican food on South Main. If you are starting work early, or driving to Phoenix before it gets hot, it is the only one of these four that will be open.

Annie’s on East Mingus runs 7 a.m. to 2 p.m., and not every day of the week, so check the listing before you set out.

Old Town Red Rooster Cafe at 901 North Main opens at 8 a.m. and closes at 2:30 p.m., Monday to Saturday. Burgers and sandwiches as well as breakfast, and it sits in the middle of Old Town, which makes it the easy one to fold into a morning walking the street.

Denny’s on SR 89A is open all day, every day. It is a chain and you know what it is. It is also the answer at 2 a.m., and on a holiday when everything else in town is shut.

The pattern to plan around

Three of the four close by mid-afternoon. Cottonwood does not really do a late breakfast, and a Sunday at half past two is cutting it fine everywhere except Denny’s. Hours shift with the season and with staffing, so the times above are what each place published when we last checked, and each listing shows that date.
