Tree service in Sedona

A and A Tree Cutting Service says on its own site that it has worked parts of Arizona since the 1990s. Arborist Standards Tree Care covers the Verde Valley. Arizona North Tree Service handles removal and trimming.

Two of the three have no street address in our record. For a tree company that is normal rather than suspicious: the work is entirely mobile, the equipment lives on a trailer, and there is nothing for a customer to visit. It does mean we cannot tell you where they are based, and drive time is a fair question to ask.

Ask about insurance, not about the Registrar

Tree work is the trade where the paperwork that protects you is insurance, not a contractor’s license. If a limb comes through your roof, or off the truck onto a car, or a climber is hurt in your garden, the questions are whether the company carries general liability cover and workers’ compensation, and for how much.

Ask to see the certificate. A company doing this properly carries it and will not be offended. One that gets cagey has told you something useful.

This matters more than usual here. Sedona properties are often on a slope, frequently tight against the house, and commonly within reach of a power line, which is the combination that turns an ordinary removal into a difficult one.

Before the work

Get the scope in writing, specifically whether the price includes hauling everything away and grinding the stump, because those are the two things most often quoted separately and assumed to be included.

Ask what they will not do. Anything within about ten feet of a power line is usually APS’s job, not a tree company’s, and a company that offers to do it anyway is not the one to hire.

Check whether a permit or an HOA approval is needed. In parts of Sedona and the Village of Oak Creek, removing a mature tree is not simply your decision.

Do not schedule non-urgent work for monsoon season if you can help it. Everyone is busy clearing storm damage then, and prices and waits both reflect it.
