That matters practically: when you search the Registrar of Contractors, a license may still be filed under the old name, so search both before concluding anything. A name change is ordinary and is not a warning sign; not knowing about it when you check is what leads people to the wrong conclusion.

Two is thin for a town this size

Sedona has a lot of houses, many of them second homes that sit empty for months, which is exactly the situation that produces plumbing emergencies: a failed water heater nobody notices, a leak that runs for weeks, a line that freezes in an unheated house at 4,300 feet.

Plumbing is licensed in Arizona. The exemption is narrow: under $1,000 for labor and materials together, minor work, no permit. A water heater or anything on the main line is permit work and needs a licensed contractor at any price.

Ask for the ROC number, the call-out fee, and whether the quote is flat rate or hourly. Then check the number yourself; with the name change above, it is a minute well spent.
