Trails around Verde Village

We list 15 trails around Verde Village, about 41 miles in all. They come from the U.S. Forest Service’s own trail records. Eleven are in the Verde Ranger District of the Prescott National Forest, and four are in the Red Rock Ranger District of the Coconino National Forest.

How long they run: the middle of the list is about two and a half miles. Four are under a mile, and two run past five.

Machines on the trail: of every town where the Forest Service records what is allowed, this one has the most trails open to ATVs. It records uses for 11 of the 15. All 11 allow hiking, bikes and horses. Seven are also open to ATVs, and one to motorcycles. If you are on foot or on a horse, pick your trail with that in mind, and check each listing before you go.

What is underfoot: all 15 are dirt and rock.

We don’t rate trails as easy or hard. The Forest Service doesn’t publish that for these trails.
