Vets in Sedona

Bell Rock Veterinary Clinic, 45 Bell Rock Plaza, and The Village Veterinary Hospital, 6376 SR-179, are both at the Village of Oak Creek end. Oak Creek Small Animal Clinic, 5 Pinon Drive, is in Sedona proper.

The Village Veterinary Hospital is the one that also does boarding and doggie day care. In a town with this much tourism that is more useful than it sounds: it is the answer when you want to spend a day somewhere a dog cannot go, which in Sedona is most of the good places. Slide Rock State Park bans pets entirely from May to September, Red Rock State Park allows none at all, and a summer afternoon on slickrock will burn paws regardless. The gap, again

None of the three tells us it covers emergencies out of hours. That is the same across the whole valley: of eleven practices, exactly one, Danza Del Sol in Cornville, publishes emergency service, and the nearest genuine overnight hospital is likely Flagstaff.

From Sedona, Flagstaff is about forty-five minutes up Oak Creek Canyon in good conditions. In snow, at night, on SR-89A switchbacks, it is longer and it is not a drive to be planning for the first time in a crisis. Ring your practice, ask who they refer to after hours, and keep the number somewhere other than a phone.

If you are visiting with a dog

Register nothing, but do two things before you need them: note which of these three is nearest your accommodation, and check whether it will see a non-registered animal. Practices vary on that, and the answer is different in a busy season.

If your dog is on medication, bring more than the trip needs. Getting a prescription filled by a practice that has never seen the animal is slow anywhere, and Sedona in high season is not the place to test it.
