Parks in the Verde Valley

We list six parks. Four are in Cottonwood, and Camp Verde and Village of Oak Creek have one each.

Two of the six are state parks and the other four are town parks. That’s the difference to sort out before you head off. Dead Horse Ranch State Park in Cottonwood and Red Rock State Park in Village of Oak Creek both charge to get in, keep gate hours, and can shut the gate once they fill up on a busy weekend. The town parks are free and usually open from dawn to dusk with no gate at all. Those are Riverfront Park, Cottonwood’s Kid’s Park, Lions Club Park and Camp Verde’s Heritage Park.

We only hold hours for three of the six. For a town park, that missing information generally doesn’t mean much, since most of them run on daylight rather than a posted time. The state parks are different. Check the park’s own site before you drive out, because gate times shift with the season and the day-use fee shifts along with them.
