Nonprofits and community organizations in the Verde Valley

We list 23 nonprofits and community organizations in the valley. Nineteen have a Cottonwood address, two are in Camp Verde, one is in Clarkdale and one is in Sedona. That isn’t a quirk of how we built the list. Cottonwood is where most valley-wide services are based, and an organization with a Cottonwood address usually serves the whole valley rather than just that town.

What is on this list. Food and material help (Manzanita Outreach, Old Town Mission, a St Vincent de Paul thrift store), housing and homelessness work (Verde Valley Habitat for Humanity, the Verde Valley Homeless Coalition), family and crisis services (Verde Valley Sanctuary, House of Ruth, Catholic Charities, Rainbow Acres, YES The Arc), senior support through the Verde Valley Senior Center, and river and land conservation through Friends of the Verde River. The Clarkdale entry is Yavapai College SBDC, the small business development center on the college’s Verde Valley campus.

Call before you drive over. Only two of the 23 publish opening hours. That is normal for this kind of group, since many of them run on volunteer time or by appointment, and a posted door time would only mislead you. Twenty-two list a phone number, and all 23 have a website.

A note on accuracy. Six of these listings are flagged in our records for review, because the phone number we hold doesn’t match the one on the organization’s own site.
