Where our event listings come from

Our events pages show every event we know about across the whole valley, and they update through the day. Each item links to the page where the organizer posted it, so you can check the details at the source. This page explains where those events come from and how to read them.

Where they come from

We pull events from public calendars and then check each one. Right now the main sources are:

• The Greater Verde Valley Chamber calendar for Cottonwood, Clarkdale, Cornville, and Jerome.
• The Sedona Chamber calendar for Sedona and the Village of Oak Creek.
• Venue pages for a few big nearby draws: Cliff Castle Casino in Camp Verde, Arizona Snowbowl and the Flagstaff venues, and the Prescott rodeo grounds.
• Events people send us through the submit an event form.

We do not copy the organizer’s write-up from a calendar feed. What we take from a feed is the name, time, place, price if it is given, and a link, and anything we add in our own words is written from those facts. Copying someone’s description because it appeared in a feed is not something a feed gives us permission to do.

Sending us your own write-up is a different thing, and we will publish it. If you are running the event, the submit an event form has a description field. Write what you want people to know and it goes on the page as you wrote it, credited to you as the organizer. You are the person who holds the rights to it, so you are the person who can hand it over.

We are not the organizer and we are not an official calendar.

How to read the list

• Town tells you where the event is. “Nearby” means it is outside the valley but close enough that people from here go, like Flagstaff or Prescott.
• Free is marked only when the organizer says so. If nothing is marked, we do not know the price. Check the link.
• Cancelled or postponed shows when the organizer has posted a change. We catch most of these within a few hours, but not all.

Check before you go

Events change. Weather closes outdoor things. Small venues change their minds. Before you drive:

1. Open the organizer’s link and look at the date and time again.
2. Check the conditions page for road work, forest closures, or weather alerts. Summer storms and fire closures can shut down a whole area with little notice.
3. For anything in Sedona on a Thursday through Sunday, read the parking and shuttle guide. Some trailhead lots close to cars on those days.

Regular weekend things

A few things happen most weekends and are worth knowing about even when they are not on the list:

• Farmers markets. Camp Verde’s market runs Saturday mornings from May into early October, and Sedona’s runs Sundays year-round, with hours that change by season (mornings in summer, midday in winter). Hours and seasons are in the farmers market guide.
• Live music. Cliff Castle Casino has free live music on Friday and Saturday nights at 8 PM.
• State parks and monuments are open every day. Fees and hours are on each listing page.

Missing something?

If your event is not here, send it to us. Markets, fundraisers, club meetings, school plays, and church events all count. We post within a day. If something on the list is wrong, use the “suggest a correction” link on the event.
