Coffee in Cottonwood comes in two shapes. Knowing which one you want will save you a drive.

The drive-throughs sit on SR 89A, and they open early. The earliest opening we have on record here is 5 AM, and 7 AM is the common one across town. If you’re heading over Mingus to Prescott, or down I-17 before daylight, the highway is where the lights are on. The sit-down cafes are in Old Town and on the side streets near Main. They keep later, shorter days, and most of them close in the early afternoon, at 1, 2 or 3 PM, though one stays open until 8 PM.

Check the day before you go. Four of the seven places we list are open on Sunday, one is closed Sunday, one is closed both Saturday and Sunday, and one has no hours on record. Want a table and a power socket instead of a window and a cup holder? Head for Old Town. Want speed? Head for the highway. A couple of the cafes also serve food, so a coffee stop and a light breakfast can be the same stop.
