Campgrounds across the Verde Valley

We have 24 campgrounds on the list. Sedona holds most of them, 14, and then it drops off fast: Cornville has 4, Jerome 2, Village of Oak Creek 2, and Camp Verde and Rimrock have one each. That lopsided count is about where the national forest land sits, around Sedona and Oak Creek Canyon. It isn’t a hole in our coverage of the other towns.

Public land versus private: 17 of the 24 are run by the U.S. Forest Service, and most of those are in the Coconino National Forest. At least 10 of them can be booked ahead through recreation.gov, so you don’t have to drive up and hope. Check before a weekend trip. The first come, first served sites near Sedona fill early on summer weekends. The rest of the list is private RV parks and campgrounds, and each listing says whether that one takes reservations.

What we have and what we don’t: when we have it, we note capacity, accessibility, and whether there’s a fee. That comes from the Forest Service’s own recreation database. We don’t carry current site availability, and we don’t carry fee amounts for most listings. Those shift with the season. Look at the operator’s own booking page for the number you’ll actually pay.
