Trails around Camp Verde

We list 17 trails around Camp Verde, about 69 miles in all. They come from the U.S. Forest Service’s own trail records. Fourteen are in the Verde Ranger District of the Prescott National Forest, and three are in the Red Rock Ranger District of the Coconino National Forest.

How long they run: these are longer than the trails around Sedona. The middle of the list is about two and a half miles, only four are under a mile, and five run past five miles.

Who can use them: Camp Verde’s trails are shared. The Forest Service records what is allowed on 14 of the 17. All 14 allow hiking, 13 allow horses, 11 allow bikes, and 5 are open to ATVs. If you ride a horse or a bike, check the listing first. If you hike, expect to share the trail on some of them.

What is underfoot: 16 are dirt and rock. One is paved.

We don’t rate trails as easy or hard. The Forest Service doesn’t publish that for these trails.
