Storage units in Camp Verde

Read the addresses before you set off, because two of these three are easy to mix up.

Verde Ranch RV Storage is at 162 North Goswick Way. Verde Ranch Self Storage is at 300 North Goswick Way. Same road, similar name, a short distance apart, and between them they cover different things: one is set up for vehicles, the other for units. If you ring one about the other’s service you will be sent up the street.

A-1 Affordable Mini & RV Storage is out on West State Route 260 and does both mini units and RV space.

RV, boat and trailer storage is its own question

Camp Verde is an I-17 town, so a lot of what gets stored here is a fifth wheel or a boat that lives somewhere else the rest of the year. If that is you, the questions are different from a household unit:

• Covered, or open dirt? A full valley summer of sun on a rubber roof is not free.
• Is there power for a battery tender, and is it metered?
• Access hours, and whether you can get a 35-foot trailer in and out of the gate without a three-point turn.
• What the insurance requires, because some policies want a fenced and gated site to keep covering a stored vehicle.

For household units

Ask what happens in July. A metal unit in the Verde Valley gets hot enough to warp candles, ruin vinyl records and cook anything with a battery in it. If you are storing electronics, instruments, photographs or paperwork that matters, ask directly whether any unit is climate controlled, and take a plain no as the answer if that is what you get.

Then the ordinary ones: the actual monthly price after any introductory rate, the notice period to leave, whether the deposit is refundable, and what the site’s own insurance does and does not cover, which is usually much less than people assume.
