RV parks in Camp Verde

Camp Verde is where the valley’s RV traffic lands, and the reasons are geography. I-17 runs through it, so you are not towing a rig up the switchbacks into Sedona or over the hill to Jerome. It sits around 3,100 feet, which is meaningfully cooler than Phoenix and meaningfully warmer than Flagstaff, and that makes it a place people stop in both directions and stay in winter.

Verde Ranch RV Resort and Verde River RV Resort, at 1472 West Horseshoe Bend Drive, are the two resort-style parks. Zane Grey RV Village, 4500 State Route 260, rents both RV sites and cabins, which is the one to remember if somebody in the party is not traveling with a rig, or if you want a base here without towing anything at all.

What to ask

Full hook-ups or partial, and what amperage the pedestals are. Thirty amps will not run two air conditioners in July.

Rig length limits and the turning into the site, which is the thing that goes wrong on arrival rather than at booking.

Monthly rates and winter availability. These parks fill with snowbirds from roughly November, and a site that is easy to get in September is not in January. Monthly is usually much cheaper per night than nightly, and often has a separate metered electricity charge on top.

Whether there is shade. A site with a tree is a different summer from a site without one.

What is nearby

Montezuma Castle is at I-17 exit 289 and Montezuma Well at 293, both a short drive. Cottonwood and Old Town are about twenty-five minutes, Sedona about forty.
