Roofing in Cottonwood

Check the license first. Under Arizona law, a job can skip the licensed contractor only when all three things are true: the whole job, labor and materials together, comes to less than $1,000, the work is “of a casual or minor nature”, and no local building permit is required. A roof is almost never that job. If a permit is needed, the exemption does not apply at any price.

The Arizona Registrar of Contractors keeps a free public license search at roc.az.gov. Look up the company name or the ROC number, confirm the license is active, and confirm it covers roofing. One of the firms we list puts its ROC number right in its business name, which makes that easy.

On 20 September 2026 we ran every roofer on this page through the Registrar’s own records. Three of the ten came back with a license, and all three were active that day. Where a listing shows a license status, that is what the register said on that date. We match a company by its business name, by a trading name it also uses, or by its phone number, so a roofer we could not match is not necessarily working without a license. The license may sit under a different legal name, it may be filed in another town, or the work may fall under the small jobs that do not need a contractor at all. Six of the ten say on their own website that they are licensed. When a listing carries that claim and no number, the claim is the company’s own, and we have not confirmed it.

All ten roofers we list have a website and a phone number, and nine of them publish hours. Six of those nine keep standard weekday hours and are closed Saturday and Sunday. Two list around-the-clock availability, which usually means an emergency phone line rather than a crew on the roof at 2 AM.

Before you sign, ask for the ROC number in writing. Ask whether the quote includes tear-off and disposal. Ask what the workmanship warranty covers and for how long, and ask who pulls the permit. Get all of it on the estimate.
