Landscaping in Camp Verde

Landscaping is the trade where the license question is least useful, and it is worth saying why up front. Mowing, trimming, planting and general garden maintenance are not contracting. The Arizona exemption also covers a job where labor and materials together come to under $1,000, the work is minor, and no permit is needed. So a company here without a license number is a very different signal than a roofer without one.

Where it starts to matter is hardscape: retaining walls, irrigation tied into the mains, masonry, grading, anything structural or anything needing a permit. Ask what the job actually involves before you decide the license matters.

The four

Bob’s Tree and Landscaping, on Boot Hill Drive, does tree work as well as landscaping, including pruning and removal. Active license, ROC 200344.

Mario and Mario Landscaping does landscaping, gardening and masonry, and its site says the business has been running since the 1990s. Active license, ROC 165704. Masonry is the reason the license is worth having here.

S & J Landscaping and Maintenance LLC lists every town in the valley in its service area, from Sedona to Camp Verde.

Jaybobslandscaping does landscaping and tree trimming, and offers scheduled maintenance, which is the useful one if you want somebody every fortnight rather than once.

Both license numbers above were checked against the Registrar of Contractors and were active on the date shown. The two without a number are not necessarily unlicensed, and for ordinary garden work may not need one at all.

Tree work is its own question

Two of these four take tree work. Removing a large tree near a house or a power line is dangerous and it is worth asking about insurance rather than licensing: specifically whether the company carries liability cover and workers’ compensation, and what happens if a limb goes through your roof. Ask to see the certificate. A company doing this properly will not mind.
